The contest is simple. The challenge is for the participant to proudly create his/her very own special “banana split dessert.” They must however use at least four of the eight ingredients contained in the “original” banana split – banana, ice cream, pineapple topping/sauce/flavor, strawberry topping/sauce/flavor, chocolate topping/sauce/flavor, whipped cream, nuts and cherries. The dessert can even be pre-made. Another requirement is that the participants have a written description of their banana split and its ingredients that will be turned in to the judge. We’re not looking for a traditional rendition – we have that at the festival. We want the participant to think out of the box!
