(The annual Wilmington Art & Pottery Festival will return on August 1 and 2, 2008, as artists from near and far converge on the Roberts Convention Centre, conveniently located at I-71 and S.R. 68, exit 50. This two-day event specializes in high quality art and pottery created in Ohio and surrounding states.
See hand thrown pottery, glassware, one-of-a-kind jewelry, wall art, metal sculptures, stained glass, beautiful embroidery, and the list goes on and on. This is not a craft show, but instead delivers quality art items created for many purposes, from functional to ornamental.
The event is produced by Ray and Betty Storer, of Grandpa’s Pottery. Hands-on demonstrations will be given by Ray and his son Brooke, on how to “throw” clay and create beautiful works of art. All ages are encouraged to try their hand at throwing pottery. Also, see a glass blower, metal sculptor, jewelry makers, wood carvers, and many others at this fun and educational event. Grandpa’s Pottery is a family collaboration of talents. Ray and Betty Storer have been creating hand thrown pottery for many years. Their son Brooke is an accomplished potter in his own right, and daughter-in-law Amy, from Thailand, gives the pottery an Asian flair with her designs.
The festival will run from noon to 9 p.m. on Friday, August 1st, and from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Saturday, August 2nd. Admission is $4 per person, with children under 12 being admitted free. For more information regarding the event, call (937) 382-6442.
