Spring Has Sprung On The Farm
Spring is sprung! At least that’s what the 70 degree temperature says to me. Time to start planning for those day trips and getaways, right? I say yes. There are so many things to do in Clinton County and the surrounding area. One I’d like to feature today is Bonnybrook Farms. It’s a cornucopia of plenty, full of things to do for young and old alike.
Chuck wagon themed rides are the highlight with activities to do leading up to partaking in hearty “grub” of hickory-smoked pork and chicken along with side dishes like campfire beans, macaroni and cheese, redskin potato salad and more all served up country style. Until the dinner bell rings at 6:30 p.m. there’s Horseshoe Hill, an 80-foot underground slide, clodhopper golf, giant slingshots, a pond where children can try their hand as part of the catch and release program, a stand-up sandbox, “horse swings,” corn hole boards and a petting zoo. Of course, if you’d rather relax, sit on the patio of the Gathering Barn while sipping a class of iced tea or lemonade. The Gathering Barn is nostalgic decorated with items from long ago, gingham tablecloths and corn shocks.
Next, it’s time to board a tractor drawn wagon for a trip down a gravel road to the chuck wagon setting on the banks of Todd’s Fork Creek. It’s here where everyone gets off the wagon and is served up dessert with the option of roasting marshmallows over an open fire. You’ll get a history lesson on the way there about the influence of the Hopewell Indian culture and the land being a popular hunting ground for the Shawnee.
Bonnybrook is located at 3779 St. Rte. 132 in Clarksville, Ohio. For more information, call 937-289-2500 or visit their web site.
